From miracle oils to superfoods, from advertising slogans to TikTok challenges – the quest for health and happiness is timeless. In this interactive exhibition, you’ll discover how our bodies, habits, and ideas about health have changed throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. What does it really mean to “take care of yourself”? And who decides that?
Each room focuses on a different body part – from the nose to the gut, from skin and hair to the heart. The scenography is colorful and humorous: the walls feature shades ranging from light to dark skin tones, with a bright accent color in each room that brings the space to life. Neon signs highlight the featured body part.
Audio plays an important role in the exhibition: listen to stories and sounds in surprising places such as under the shower, in bed, or even on the toilet. The exhibition shows how science, advertising, government, and media shape our ideas about health. A rich, sensory, and surprising journey through the body – and through time.
