In this exhibition, you are introduced to the story of the crew of the Belgica, you learn about today’s climate challenges, and you discover the role we can play in shaping a sustainable future. It is a true scientific adventure, translated into a visually engaging and accessible experience.
Together with curator Jill Peeters, we translated scientific research into a scenographic concept in which objects, graphs, films and interactive screens make complex themes understandable for all visitors, with a particular educational focus on young people. Experts and scientists also speak directly to the audience in short video clips.
The exhibition spanned three museum galleries, each with its own scenography and focus. The first section highlighted the past, featuring the voyage of the Belgica and the scientific discoveries of Captain Adrien de Gerlache. The second part focused on today’s climate challenges and issues. Finally, the third gallery offered a glimpse into the future: a participatory installation presenting concrete steps toward a sustainable world, serving as a hopeful message for every visitor.
