For the exhibition Stille levens, artist Koen Broucke explored various forms of the still life: from shell collections and floral arrangements to vanitas depictions, ranging from miniature to enlarged, and from recognizable to abstract. Many artists collect shells or other objects, creating a tension between collecting and creating art: when does a collection become an artwork? Broucke invited more than forty artists to respond to this question. The exhibition design supports the show with carefully chosen colors that enhance the different themes.
