At one of the highest points in the Poperinge landscape stands a brick tower dating back to the Second World War. For many years, it stood abandoned in a meadow. In 2022, the city of Poperinge acquired the listed monument, which is unique in Belgium.
We were commissioned to design the interior and an exhibition for the tower. Together, they tell the story of the structure, from the German occupation in the 1940s to the fires lit in its basement in the 2000s. The tower remains something of a mystery, and the exhibition attempts to piece together the fragments of its history.
Visitors who climb the tower are rewarded with panoramic 360° views of Poperinge, Westvleteren and the former Peselhoek airfield.
